Breaking TOys tiddly bits (plz help your broken minstrels out in 2 polls?)

[auto-reblog of mlle.tumblr self]

for the record, mine ye olde neologism of Pornival (n.): implies the Walter Sickert portable carnival of possible/likely pornographic intent. emphasis on the portability and carnal carnival aspect of our tiny instrumentalist selves, biensur.

X please write-in & vote for Walter Sickert as best Artist in the Phoenix’s Best of Poll (put Janaka Stucky or jojo lazar for best poet if you feel like it! and Meff as best lesbian/leather hangout? haha) :
http://thephoenix.com/thebest/boston/vote/nominate.aspx?cat=arts#547

The Sickerts in the papers!

X February 1, 2011. “Walter Sickert leads a band of musical misfits.” by Brett Milano, The Boston Phoenix

…At their Somerville headquarters last week, Sickert and crew were busy laying out plans for next Thursday’s show at T.T. the Bear’s. This typically involves a few levels of prep. Stage director Helena Prezio has already scoped out the place for ideas, and she’s about to call in the “bunnies” — the 20-odd performers who augment the group on stage; they’ll be instructed to listen to the set list and come up with something visually fitting. Guitarist Meff, who writes plays in her non-rock life, contributes conceptual bits. And Sickert is always ready with songs that have characters and storylines. “I think we present a healthy dose of everyone celebrating everyone, so nobody gets creeped out,” says Lazar. “It’s perversion with a smile…”

How it grew from two acoustic singers to a full-blown revue — or a “pornival,” as Lazar calls it — makes more sense when you add in that Sickert is also a visual artist (the fantasy-inspired line drawings on their CDs and posters are his), that Edrie ran an art collective in Cambridge, and that both had creative friends who wanted to get into the act. “When the numbers grew, it just became like a baby’s head growing,” says Sickert. “Our fontanelle just fell into shape

haha funny moments of the quotes i’m attributed. gosh, i think some of Walter’s and my remarks got smooshed together (i’m only responsible for the Sex Pistols part of the first quote, but i’m overall crazy grateful for t/his representation of us!!!)

X POLL ENDS TMW 2/2/11! “currently running in 4th place for this new music poll amongst many great regional acts! Top 3 places get prizes and features in the magazine which is great for any Independent band. If you are a fan of the band, please to 1 minute to show your support by voting. thanks!” via @kevincorzett

poem-a-day week26 “Nintendo conjured cock” & suchs

October 25-31, 2010 week26: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
http://locksmithy.livejournal.com/tag/poem-a-day
http://poetesss.tumblr.com/PAD

close 2nd for this archived week’s teaser-poem is my kindof cousin/companion piece to “guitar hero,” #177 “A joint venture to find papers” - i already pimped it on le twitter, so i figured i’d give another funny one ‘air time.’

pierrotlegs

179. October 30, 2010 (Sat. TOys play superfans’ Hallowe’en eve weddingig)

Up the servant stairs, skirting ghost blood
Stains on the guests’ scavenger hunt map: photograph
A band member eating quinoa, then howl

Along with the ambient spook
-y music keyboardist in the parlour with the meat
-less lasagna wafting in, high-five the undead

Prom queen (bride), make (non-swearing) nice in front
Of the family dressed as a hippie commune at the table
In the corner a duet of Diet Coke & rums tremble

Under the screeching speakers
The costume contest is judged
By the mike-cupping lion from Oz

In high heel paws (she grew up in Korea, so)
She thinks the ICP clown is a black and white Joker
i feel good about making the Mad Hatter

Uncomfortable, my mis-matched socks disturbed
Him more than his own, Pierrot polka dot holes
In the boat to oompah pah pah

Then sauceless sneak out past
Other cars’ skunk smoke pouring out the windows
Too bad harassing historical figures

Won’t get you any points, i manage to control
Myself from walking off with the tiny lanterns
And take pictures of Walter as the perfect pirate

Willy Wonka lurking among the candy buffet
On three say, Waterloo!
One-two-three— Invasion!

Out back of the haunted terrace
The empty wedding tent turns out to be a pecker tease
Hollow sounds from our cell phones dead
Leaves on the dance floor
That Bonaparte really is an exciting guy!

We love Napoleon

poem-a-day week25 “Confounding but fun-sounding!”

October 18-24, 2010 week25: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
http://locksmithy.livejournal.com/tag/poem-a-day
http://poetesss.tumblr.com/PAD

Tales of Polish bday week/month of more shows than sleep, decadence and melty fondue memories of floral wreathlets that don’t slip off your halo. In close decisions equally-worthy of being the teaser-poem— read my bday poem & my 2nd-to-last cabaret-busk poem, as it has vidjo!

170. October 21, 2010 (thurs., after the witching hour still out singing/being bday noisy…)
Half-and-half & nostalgia in mine

Creep out the garden gate
To all tomorrow’s fondess
Shit, someone got the flower girl

Drunk, wreathlet askew in all these photos
Fear is not endearing, a little wine blush
On the knees, dandelion smile

The cork-pop and laughter over the tear
-jerker toast, something shiny crunching underfoot
While dyed-to-match shoes rub identical

Blisters on the foxes fleeing the dance floor
That scene where “gin-pagne”
And knock-you-on-your-ass applejack

Have happened— be glad the parties
You leave still exhale aftershave and warm
Frivolity, indoor parodies of drum circles

A kind of goosing, unlacing flirting
That sparky new pair in the coat closet
That old story smoking on the front stoop

Throw some stray petals (or lime wedges)
Over your left shoulder for luck
Tomorrow there won’t be empty milk
Bottles waiting outside

poem in part inspired by the wonderful bitty floral wreath-let dangling ribbons my dear photog friend Justin Moore gifted me. pix of me being a drunk flower girl/flapperlet (it stays on even crooked) i’m sure will turn up. (past, present, future) et voila: Wreathlet profile

poem-a-day week22 “Cheaper workmanship in the doll’s face”

http://locksmithy.livejournal.com/tag/poem-a-day
http://poetesss.tumblr.com/PAD

above-the-cut teaser this week includes my gift-art to Salter Wickert in honour of him finishing his first year of Inkdrips! & because my *other top-choice poem? edrie was already kind enough to pimp the hell out of on the facebook. i have a nice carnie family/pornival.

149. September 30, 2010 (thurs., Ketman A Go Go LP release)

We relive the last time you pulled Pinocchio’s
Achilles tendon, narrated while peeing
Behind a dumpster and then hopped in a getaway car

With darker hair, shinier piercings
On the bad news chaffeur saying “drink this!”
Miller High Life bubbles, the chalkboard

Reads: “I know the ceiling is leaking
in the bathroom, THX” we stand with our arms
Crossed when off stage, gaze at the last inkdrip

Served uke-side up on a platter—
i brown bag profiles in prey-catching lashes
Apostles’ hand gestures, the suckers from octopi eyes

WSInkdrip gift dripping w. 'grats! (& plague rats)

poem-a-day week21 “Broad hip’d broadcast markup language”

i’m everso everso tardy/be-hind/betwixt & ‘tween & playing awful ketchup, mes amis. do forgive me. last sat. (Cynthia von Buhler-world) to now (and it’s not over yet!) have been some of the most overstimulating art wankery ginormous and important-to-me performances of my life. and i started teaching my zine workshop! happy lady. full service multimedia freelance burlesque poetess & professoress, at yo soivece.

140. September 21, 2010 (tues.)

I. Busking “MinInstruments” (tinys + Edrie!)

When sexy Communists
i mean dominatrix Socialists—
i mean socialites of sidewalks

Get out of the car button’d like Louise
Brooks, bee-stung bob ready for the front line—
(Queue swimming with green paper)

Autocoaches crash abrubtly, yellow spyglasses
Tinkle of glass, a tin giggle in the distance

We are now lousy with illegit’ $2 bills
Pauvre Thomas Jefferson
(He didn’t seem like a “1 belt” kind of guy)

II. Hypothesis Show première

Once upon a childhood paleontologist—
i mean middle school marine biologists—
i mean all grown up burlesque

Inquisitive minds must combine
Experimental tassel twirling, subverting
The strip tease, tighty whiteys

And poetry of womanism, faces on flour and syrup
Food product like Frank-n-Furter’s
Garter’d lovechild with Marie Antoinette

Singing phallus, beckoning to be
Lap partners—
i mean lab partners

img of Kirby Bits from ‘Midnight Vultures’ by Lacy Gazelle, FB & top hipstamatic of Edrie from her FB

teeth/haunch

106. August 16, 2010 (mon., TOys photoshoot!)

Afternoon freak trickle down
Driveway puddles red

Teacups’ black teeth leer
Horse haunches ~ knock off ink drops
The quite mad supper

Quaint late apostles
Bunnies in the opium
Inhaling darjeeling

The last tea party’s
Tentacles offer sugar
Cubes, lacey table

Cloth clocks, filigrees
On Elvis Jesus’ hem
Spied through rabbit ears

Lit views over red
Cleavage, Our Holy Mother’s
Furry painted brow

What’s a few bacchanal grapes
Between friends, so steam-roped

Behind the scenes by David Aquilina :)
